2008 Barcelona show to be larger than ever
This year's Barcelona International Boat Show, which runs from November 8-16, is to occupy five pavilions in the Gran Via exhibition centre and three docks in nearby Port Vell, instead of the usual two.

Show organiser Fira de Barcelona says that it expects some 700 direct exhibitors and 180,000 visitors to make an appearance, and is preparing a programme that includes more than 190 activities.

Some 2,200 boats will be displayed across the two venues, which will cover an estimated 121,000sq m of space — around 5 per cent larger than last year's show.

Pavilions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 in the Gran Via exhibition centre will house 1,900 sail and motorboats, as well as electronics, engines, accessories, inflatables and more.

Another 300 large vessels will be displayed in Port Vell, where the on-water portion of the show traditionally takes place. This year, sailboats measuring 13m (43ft) and above and motorboats over 15m (49ft) will be installed across three docks. The Moll de la Fusta will accommodate sailboats and catamarans, Moll d'Espanya will show motorboats and Moll de Barcelona will exclusively cater to superyachts.
