Spanish firm launches first airbag helmet |
|
It was bound to happen.
Airbags are slowly, but surely, being integrated into the motorcycle world.
Honda was the first, with an integrated airbag in their flagship motorcycle, the Goldwing.
There have also been several airbag jackets on the market for a few years (like Dainese and others)..
APC Systems from Cataluña will be launching the world's first ever motorcycle helmet that is fitted with an airbag designed to protect the rider's back and neck in case of an accident.
It will cost €829 euros and will go on sale nationally on May 13th at the end of Barcelona's Big Biking Week.
A batch of 3,000 units - in black, grey or white and in four different sizes - will be manufactured initially for the domestic market though the company is also planning to open up a number of other markets in Europe and South America.
